A lot goes into planning a family trip. Parents spend so much time researching destinations that they and the kids will both enjoy, hotels that have the space for children and all their things, and activities that will help fill the days with adventure and excitement, for everyone. With two kids of my own, gone are the days of jetting off on a last minute, quickie weekend trip with just a backpack and my husband. Now, we’re on a constant quest to find places to go as a family that will both be fun for the littles and provide time for us to relax and enjoy our time away as well. Even better is finding a place that is good for multiple generations. Our kids grandparents are nearly always game for meeting up with us somewhere fun to get a little extra time to spend together as a family, especially after the last 18 months. No matter the time of year, North Lake Tahoe is an excellent choice for a family getaway. After spending a few days traveling with my 3.5 year old daughter and my mother, tackling bad weather and tricky nap times, I can promise you a  family trip to North Lake Tahoe  is a brilliant idea. Should you need more convincing, here 7 reasons you should book a trip there now:

1. There are easy hikes for the whole family to enjoy. Stateline Lookout Trail is an easy (though busy) 1.7 mile loop perfect for everyone. You can go at your own pace, take as many breaks as you want and the views are lovely. We also very much enjoyed Eagle Rock Trail. It’s short, 0.7 mile in and out and even my daughter could do it.

2. Hotels like the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe cater to families. When we checked in, Penny was given a little toy and sparkling cider while my mom and I sipped chilled Prosecco. A tent and little mattress were set up in our room for Penny, along with a stuffed animal and she was showered in goodies the entire stay.

3. Beaches with playgrounds. Beaches WITH playgrounds! What a brilliant combo! My mom and I were able to enjoy lattes and take in the incredible views of Kings Beach while Penny got all her extra energy out on the playground.

4. There is so much to explore outside! From beaches to hiking trails to being out on the water, there is just so much to do. It’s amazing being able to go somewhere and spend the entire day outside.

5. Tahoe Adventure Company  will help you plan a killer afternoon and is used to consider the needs of different age groups. They do couples activities, corporate events, family outings, group gatherings, you name it. Give them a call and tell them what you’re hoping to do and chances are, they’ll be able to!

6. Who doesn’t love a family ski trip? While we visited in the fall, we’ve heard amazing things about the skiing in Lake Tahoe and photos we’ve seen are stunning. It seems like a wonderful place to travel with the whole family and spend the days on the slopes and afternoons warming up fireside or in a hot tub.

7. The restaurants were super kid-friendly, which is such relief as a parent. The restaurants we visited were amazing from a food perspective, had plenty of kid-friendly options and we saw lots of other families dining out together. One of the worst feelings is feeling judged and hurried when dining out with children and this never even came close to happening while we were in North Lake Tahoe. The restaurants were wonderful and very accommodating.
