A jacuzzi on your private balcony in the middle of the rainforest is not a bad thing. With Costa Rica experiencing tremendous growth in recent years, Hotel Nayara has catapulted to the top of many ‘World’s Best Hotels’ lists. That distinction is well deserved. The hotel is great for all types of travelers and it perfectly captures the eco-adventure experience for which Costa Rica is so well known.
Set inland in the Arenal Volcano National Park, the hotel is right in the middle of the rainforest and close to an impressive array of natural hot springs. Activities here are limitless. We particularly loved the Canyoning because it includes hiking, water sliding, and zip-lining in one. Nearby, the Tabacon Grand Spa and Thermal Resort has one of the best hot springs experiences. We recommend staying at Nayara, and then getting a day pass to check out the springs at Tabacon.
The guest rooms at Hotel Nayara are absolutely stunning – so much so that we thought our welcome host had taken us to the wrong room by accident. It was bigger than our New York apartment (ok, not to hard to do) and had a colossal bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers. The wrap-around balcony was massive and accessorized with a hammock and private jacuzzi.
An ideal week-long trip to Costa Rica would consist of a couple days in the rainforest at Nayara followed by a couple days at the beach. The impressive list of accolades for Nayara include: #3 Hotel in the World, Business Insider 2013; #5 Hotel/Spa in the World, Travel and Leisure 2014; #1 Resort in Central and South America, Conde Nast Traveler 2013.
