Let us tell you about a little slice of paradise down in the British Virgin Islands, called Baraka Point. We love a good view. And of all our favorite places in the world, Baraka Point takes the cake with the most spectacular panoramic 260 degree view of sparkling sea. The fully-staffed luxury estate sits perched on a picturesque bluff in Virgin Gorda with beaches on either side. As far as villa experiences in the Caribbean go, you’d be hard pressed to find an experience more beautiful and well-curated than Baraka Point. This private retreat is a magical place to come together and gather with friends or family.
Our visit to Baraka Point was a special one. It was the first trip for our 3 month old, Liam, and my parents were able to join as well. The concierge at Baraka helped set up everything we needed in advance. They were even able to source a crib for us, which was set up and ready in our suite upon arrival.
The way Baraka Point is spread out affords each guest their own private sanctuary. Six guest suites pepper the estate’s lush tropical landscape, hosting up 16 guests at a time. Only one group is ever able to book the property at a time – so the place is all yours. Each suite has its own character, many with beautiful Balinese or East Asian furniture pieces that the owner has artfully picked out on her travels over the years. Whether it’s a beautiful claw foot soaking tub or an outdoor plunge pool, Baraka Point’s guest suites offer privacy, luxury and comfort. Each like a mini oasis.
While estate’s view took everyone’s breathe away first and foremost, it wasn’t long before we were all raving about the food. Not only do you have the entire estate to yourself, but you have a private chef to yourself as well. Can you think of anything more luxurious? We awoke each day to the smell of freshly baked blueberry muffins and coffee breaking. We’d follow our nose to an al fresco breakfast at the main pavilion and enjoyed a decadent feast while gazing out the islands dotting the horizon. Mornings are exactly as you want them at Baraka Point, utterly relaxing.
Not only are your meals had in a beautiful setting and at your own time and pace, but the food itself is exceptional. The chef at Baraka Point is world-class and turns every little snack and evening canapé into an amazing culinary experience. He works around everyone’s likes, preference, and dietary needs to create amazing cuisines that everyone will be raving about long after you leave. After we spent at day fishing at sea, chef prepared our fresh fish and turned it into one of the best meals we’ve ever had. And when our 3-year old (and myself) kept devouring his brown butter chocolate chip cookies, a new batch would show up warm and fresh each afternoon.
Most of our days at Baraka inevitably revolved around the stunning pool area just off the main pavilion. Beautiful daybeds and loungers fan out along one side of the pool, so you can look out across the infinity edge to the emerald green lawn and sweeping sea views beyond. You couldn’t dream up a more idyllic setting while unwinding beneath the Caribbean sunshine. The hardest part of the day was simply pulling ourselves away from the pool that view. Luckily, though, there are plenty of good reason to venture out.
The concierge team at Baraka can set you up a myriad of amazing adventures throughout the British Virgin Islands. If you’re up to a day at sea, we suggest gathering your group for a sail aboard a catamaran to visit some of the BVI’s most famous spots, like The Baths.
You also can’t miss Baraka’s Beachside BBQ experience. We absolutely loved this experience and recommend it to everyone. For this excursion, the concierge team whisked us away on a short 5-minute ride down the coastline to Savannah Beach. Chef was already there when we arrived, grilling up fresh Mahi Mahi while we soaked up the beauty of Savannah Beach. This beach is so gorgeous and easily one of the BVI’s prettiest stretch of shoreline. We snorkeled in the crystal clear water and strolled along the powder white sand. After the beach play, we gathered in a shaded beach palapa to enjoy chef’s delicious fish tacos, fresh fruit, guacamole, and more of his famous sea salt brown butter chocolate chip cookies.
At Baraka Point, you’ll want for nothing….except to stay forever. The concierge team, housekeeping team, and private chef at Baraka Point – they’re all there to help create the most memorable and personalized experience for your stay. Although, with a view like the one at Baraka Point, you won’t find yourself needing much at all.
