Winter Gear Kids

Our favorite Winter wear

for the kids

Getting little kids dressed to play outside in the winter should be an Olympic sport. It seems to take a billion layers and 9 hours to get it all done. But, if you get the right things the kids will be warm and comfortable which means they’ll last longer outside…which means all that effort will be worth it! We’re done the trial and error so you don’t have to. Here are the items and brands we love for our littles in the winter:

Winter Gear Kids

Snow Bibs: We love LLBean for this. They’re well made and not too pricey, you can size up to get an extra years worth out of them, and they’re easy for the kids to put on themselves once they get a little older. My 4.5 year old can put them on and get all zipped up all by herself which makes my life way easier.

Winter Coat: We’ve had great luck shopping at Mini BodenThey have a 365 day guarantee which is amazing and the prints and patterns are so fun. The coats are warm, well fitted, and made very well.

Boots: Sorel and Columbia are our go-tos here. Both brands have waterproof options, styles that zip of velcro which make them easier to get on, and they’re super warm. Even when we’ve spent an hour outside when it -0 or colder, they kids feet have stayed pretty toasty.

Snowsuit: For our son who is only 2.5 a snowsuit makes more sense than bibs and a jacket. We were given an LLBean hand me down from a friend and its awesome. It’s fleece lined, zips all the way from foot to chin and has a hood.

Other accessories:  While I prefer gloves, for little kids mittens seem to be easier and having their fingers all together like that tends to keep them warmer. Opt for water resisted mittens. Balaclavas are great because they’re basically a hat, scarf, and face cover all in one but if your kid doesn’t like the keep, opt for a wool hat. They make them with ear flaps too!
