A funny truth of travel blogging is that we don’t often return to the same place twice. In an effort to help our audience travel better and explore with us, through our camera lens, we tend to seek out new destinations to visit or new hotels to recommend. However, after less than 24 hours at the Four Seasons Nevis, we were already planning a return and plotting when we could make that happen, next time with the kids. The folks we met while where have come back time and time again, some on a first name basis the staff and others visiting first as children and now bringing their own families there. It’s just that kind of place.
We flew into St. Kitts, took a short cab ride to the port and a then hopped on a boat for quick 15-minute ride and boom- we were in paradise. I don’t know what we were expecting but whatever it was, reality was better. Sunshine yellow umbrellas beckon you in from the water taxi and the second you step onto the dock, it’s magic. Because it’s a volcanic island, it felt a bit like Hawaii, with mountains and peaks jutting up, all surrounded by lush green foliage and stunningly bright flowers. It was truly breathtaking and even on our last day we were still oohing and aahing over scenery we’d already spent days immersed in.
Our room overlooked the beach and had the most beautiful sitting room attached. We spent mornings sipping coffee on the balcony, listening to the waves birds and the ocean and kids giggling on their way to breakfast.
Without our children with us, meals were leisurely and delightful. We ate multi course breakfasts and drank our coffee while it was still hot (parents will appreciate this!). We ordered appetizers and rosé at lunch and didn’t once miss a sunset happy hour. The food at the Four Seasons Nevis was insanely good. Just-caught mahi-mahi sandwiches or tacos were our go to for lunch when we didn’t opt for the insanely good turkey club. Dinner each night was a showstopper. First, lobster night at Kastawey Beach Bar where the 3-course meal was lobster salad, lobster bisque, and then half a mouthwatering Thermidor lobster. At On the Dune we noshed on crudités and crab cakes while listening to live music. Watching the sun melt into the horizon while we sipped cocktails at Mango was such a wonderful evening. The herb crusted mahi and ribs were insanely delicious and capped off a really lovely evening.
On the way to dinner our first night, we stopped into the Crowned Monkey Rum Bar for a pick me up to help us fight the jet lag from an early flight. The bartender whipped up a killer espresso martini and gave us intel on the best places off property to eat: Turtle Time for lunch, Sunshine’s for a Killer Bee, and Golden Rock for a magical garden dinner.
Dancing on the line between the Limin pool (the main pool) and the beach, there are four cabanas begging to be rented for the day. The property was kind enough to set us up in one on our first full day and it was delightful. The cabanas feel private, come with a hammock and 6 loungers set up strategically at the cabana and then towards the sea, and have a couch inside should you need a reprieve from the sun. Theres a mini fridge stocked with water and you can order drinks and meals right to your chairs. We also noted that there is plenty of space inside the cabana for a pack and play if you were traveling with kids who still needed to nap. The beachfront cabana was a lovely way to spend a day and we will certainly arrange one again on our next visit.
The spa at the hotel was about as cute a spa as we’ve ever see. Our masseuse told us they call the spa rooms gingerbread houses and it’s easy to see why. Inside each cute little cottage there are massage tables covered in flowers and the rooms smell of soft, calming essential oils. We enjoyed massages with the windows open, listening to the breeze rustle the palms and relaxing under the hands of very talented women. Feeling rejuvenated and calm, we lingered by the waterfall pool for a bit while we came down from our massage high then changed and headed back to the beach.
We cannot stress enough just how perfect this property is. Everything from service and accommodations to food and drinks, even the vibe, it was all simply perfect. The property is stunningly beautiful and the people were so kind and generous. We can’t wait to go back and next time, we’ll treat the kids to a vacation in utter paradise.
Compass and Twine was a welcomed guest of the Four Seasons Nevis and thanks them for an incredible stay. As always, all opinions are our own.
