Eleuthera, The Bahamas

About an hour from the Eleuthera airport is a little slice of paradise called French Leave Resort. Made up of 22 villas, the property exudes an English charm while sitting right on the stunning blue waters of The Bahamas.

We booked 2-bedroom villa which also had a very spacious living room and full kitchen and dining area. This was amazing, since we were traveling with our two little kids and we highly recommend that type of room for families.

While waterfront, the property doesn’t sit directly on the beach. However, each villa comes with a golf cart and the private French Leave Beach is just a quick 3-minute drive. Really, this makes the beach all the more gorgeous. Some mornings, we were the only people there. Other times, a few other couples or families frolicked nearby and every so often, a staff member popped by to see if we’d like food or drinks. Our 2 kids (age 1 and 3 years old) were with us and the golf cart ride felt like such a fun adventure for them – it was certainly a highlight!

Back at the property, the pool was a picturesque as we had hoped. With pool service, you could enjoy lunch or drinks while the kids floated nearby.

The little ledge inside the pools edge made it ideal to be there with kids. Even our 1 year old could stand and splash on the ledge. Our older daughter loved jumping onto the ledge and then into the pool from there and being able to ‘touch the bottom’ there gave her confidence!

French Leave BahamasOf course, we had to sip a few rum punches while we were in The Bahamas and the bartender at 1648 An Island Restaurant did not disappoint. The food was delicious there as well – you MUST get the homemade hot sauce with everything, We are still dreaming of it!

The staff were so attentive, calling us and our kids by name throughout the entire week we were there, making virgin daiquiris for our daughter Penny, helping arrange cabs for dinners out, and knowing our order before we even sat down at 1648. By the time we, sadly, had to leave, they felt like friends. Cheers to visiting again someday soon!
