Harbour Island is about as charming as a place can get. While its sister island, Eleuthera, is quiet and secluded, Harbour Island is a bustling little town with dozens of restaurants, plenty of places stay, and golf carts, the main mode of transportation on island, zooming around all day long. It was our first trip there and we fell in love with how laid back everything was. The food was amazing, the people were kind, and it’s a place we’ll for sure visit again. Below, our must-do list for anyone headed to Harbour Island soon.
where to eat
The Landing
The food here was so good. We’ve heard brunch is amazing (the ricotta pancakes get rave reviews) but we were only able to make it for dinner and were pleased as plums. The goat cheese ravioli with raisins was delicious, we’re still thinking about the coconut chicken curry, and the grilled lobster was <chef’s kiss> so. dang. good.
The Other Side
While staying here on Eleuthera, we loved watching people from Harbour Island come over via boat for lunch every day. It was so fun to meet new people and they immediately wished they were staying at The Other Side. The food here is amazing. The lunch menu varies but we sampled plenty and never had a bad bite. Be sure to pop into the bar tent and have Theo mix up something refreshing for you!
Blue Bar & Kitchen
Go here for the views! The water on Pink Sands Beach is insanely gorgeous and Blue Bar is perched just high enough up to get a really good view. I can’t stress enough how slow the service was here every time we came (3-4 times over 5 days) – like brutally slow. The food is good – not great – but those views!! They really make it worth it, especially if you have time to enjoy a leisurely lunch by the ocean.
Clubhouse at The Dunmore
The food here is as delicious as the decor is charming. The stone crab claws were bananas and I loved the coconut shrimp tacos. We also tried the burger and fried chicken sandwich – each were so good!!
what to do
Enjoy the beach
Pink Sands beach is truly one of the most beautiful stretches of sand I’ve ever seen. The sand really is a light shade of pink in person and it seems to stretch on for miles. Cerulean and turquoise waters gently lap the shoreline making it a great place for kids to play.
Wander around town
There are so many cute little shops in Dunmore town and the buildings are all painted in lovely pastels shades. Grab your golf cart and cruise around!
Nap schedules didn’t allow us to enjoy this but you should! There are plenty of companies where you can charter a private boat for a day on the water. Feed the turtles, meet the pigs, or visit the sandbar for a full day in the sun!
where to stay
Yes, The Other Side is technically on Eleuthera Island but it’s worth the 5 minute boat ride over to stay at this magical solar powered glamping site. Read all about our new hotel obsession here.
French Leave Resort
Also on Eleuthera, this property, made up of waterfront cottages is great for families or groups traveling together. The pool is lovely, the beach is beautiful, and the staff were wonderful. Read more about French Leave here.
The Dunmore
The next time we visit, we plan to stay here. We’ve heard wonderful things and came over for lunch one day and fell in love with the laid back, beautiful vibe.
