Perfectly situated in the heart of the Catskills, Scribner’s Catskill Lodge is a retreat for all seasons and one of the coolest additions to Upstate, New York.
Just a mile from Hunter Mountain, the property offers ski bunnies a place to stay warm during the winter. Fireplaces speckle the lodge, inside and out, offering a myriad of cozy spots to stay nice and toasty.
In the warmer months, the lodge is an ideal place to retreat to after a day or hiking, swimming, or fly-fishing. Scribner’s is just a few miles from some of the best trail heads in the Catskills (like Kaaterskills Falls) and only an hour from ‘Trout Town USA’ aka Roscoe, NY, the birthplace of American fly-fishing.
In 1966, the lodge was opened by an artist, who named it Scribner Hollow Motor Lodge. It became a place for the fashionable ski crowd to retreat après a day on the slopes. After a change of ownership and extensive renovation, Scribner’s reopened its doors in 2016, attracting a whole new breadth of Catskill visitors.
Today, the property boasts 38 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, and plenty of common areas to converse both inside and out. In the front yard, the pool is almost complete, which promises to be the cherry on top of an already cool lodge. On the back deck you’ll find insane views of Hunter Mountain and a fire chimney surrounded by Adirondack chairs – the perfect spot to roast s’mores, no matter the seasons.
The restaurant serves contemporary, new American cuisine in a beautiful alpine setting. Rich woods and deep grey accents adorn the dining room, while floor to ceiling windows afford brilliant mountain views and let in tons of natural light. At breakfast, Scribner’s serves some of the best bacon we’ve come upon, and the cocktails at dinner were just what we craved after a long day outside.
Scribner’s Catskill Lodge serves as an awesome basecamp for weekend adventures Upstate. It is a place where people (& dogs – it’s pet friendly!) from all walks of life can gather together, get to know one another, and relax. Whether you’re a local enjoying a staycation, a city dweller escaping the chaos, or a visitor from across the country, you’ll be welcomed with open arms.
Compass + Twine was a welcomed guest of Scribner’s Catskill Lodge and thanks them for a lovely stay.
