The Shake Shack empire started small. At first, in 2004, it was operating from a single hotdog stand in Madison Square Park. The burger joint now has 14 locations in New York, including outposts at establishments like Grand Central Station, JKF Airport, and Citi Field. Beyond that, Shake Shack now has a presence in 11 other states across the country, and they’ve even hopped over the pond to Russia, the Middle East, Turkey, and the U.K.

If you’ve had one of their burgers, this all makes total sense to you. If not, 1) why? And 2) run, don’t walk, to the nearest location. The burgers are so stinkin’ good. They’re juicy and the cheese melts all over your hand. The secret ShackSauce is delicious. It’s probably just mayonnaise mixed with ketchup, but it tastes like world peace. We wanna bathe in it, then drink it.

In addition to serving up one of our favorite burgers in the city, Shake Shack has hotdogs, frozen custards, milk shakes, beer and wine. They also serve old school crinkle fries – which they tried to replace with boring ole regular fries – but nobody was having that. The people get what the people want, and so Shake Shack reversed their decision. Crinkle fries reign supreme!

The Madison Square Park location remains their best and most iconic outpost. No matter the day or time, the line will be long but, world piece doesn’t happen quickly.
