Housed in a landmark building with 60 renovated bungalow-like rooms, Solé East is another great getaway option for a weekend in Montauk. The hotel has modern beach decor, white-washed walls, comfortable rooms and a great pool area. With an easy central location, it’s a 5 minute walk to town and minutes to any one the area’s beaches, including the famed surfing beach – Ditch Plains.
Especially during the high season, when Surf Lodge is over-crowded and Gurney’s can get pricey, a room at Solé East can usually be snagged at a refreshing price point.
The grounds at Solé East are incredibly spacious, well maintained, and dotted with beautiful Hampton’s blue hydrangeas. There are multiple gardens and plenty of Adirondacks chairs and lounge beds to relax on. With the music going and cocktails flowing, it’s always a fun atmosphere at the pool-side bar and restaurant. In the evening, the outdoor dining fills up pretty quickly so it’s worth getting a reservation in advance.
In the guest rooms, colorful surfing photos contrast the crisp white walls and bed linens. The simple and modern theme carries through to the bathrooms, which are outfitted with chic marble countertops. We didn’t love how low the beds were set to the floor, but truth-be-told, they were extremely comfortable. Upon making the reservation or at check-in, we suggest asking for ask for a corner room because they are notably more spacious.
