Great food. Cool vibe. Beautiful space. We must be talking about Tacombi Café El Presidente!
The lively and welcoming Mexico City style café in the Flatiron District has it all: it’s a taqueria, juice stand & Veracruz-style coffee bar rolled into one. They even have an on-site tortilleria making the freshest, most delicious hand-pressed tortillas all day long. The bright and airy eatery is dolling some of our favorite Mexican food in the city. It’s authentic and really, really good.
The Tacos Al Pastor and Baja Crispy Fish are our go-to favs. They’re small and you have to shell out less than $4 for them, you should definitely try an assortment of kinds. If you’re looking for something heartier, try one the quesadillas and – for the love of God – don’t leave there without trying the Esquites. It’s grilled Mexican street corn cut off the cob and served in a bowl mixed with cotija cheese and chipotle mayo.
If you’re there for brunch, the Paloma cocktail pairs perfectly with… everything… and if you need a little hair of the dog, order a Fernet and Coke. It will cure what ails ya and leave you with some serious pep in your step.
