There’s nothing better than a Grecian sunset. When that tangerine sun melts slowly into the Aegean, you’re going want to be situated in a prime spot with cocktail in hand.
On the island of Milos, there’s no confusion as to where to go come golden hour. Utopia Café is located in the hilltop town of Plaka. Park in one of the lots at the bottom of the hill and enjoy a picturesque stroll through the bougainvillea-draped pathways of Plaka.
Towards the top of town, you’ll find the white-washed facade of Utopia Café. If you can’t find it, ask around; you won’t be the only one headed that way.
The back of the café opens up westward to a stunning black and white checkered, cliffside terrace, where you stare out at the Aegean horizon peppered with islands in the distance. Come early to grab a front row seat or stand under the pergola covered bar area and soak in the magnificent views.
Don’t worry if you can’t grab a table on arrival. Stand and enjoy the views until the last drop of sun disappears. At that moment, most folks will get up and head to dinner right away, but the sky stays painted brilliant hues of orange, pink, purple well after the sun goes away. Soak in the peaceful scene before returning the buzzing streets of Plaka to find a cozy taverna for dinner.
