With its relaxed, almost bohemian vibe, the Urban Cowboy is a charmingly unique option for your next stay in New York. Ex-NHL player Porter Lyons opened this B&B in 2014 in a beautifully renovated Williamsburg townhouse. Since then, it has caught the eye of many travel publications, all of which have accurately praised the character, quality and affordability of Lyon’s establishment. The 5 guestrooms are well appointed with decorative accents keeping in line with their Southwestern motif. The first floor of the Urban Cowboy hosts a communal living room, dining area and kitchen. Grab a drink from the fridge, meet some new friends and make yourself at home.
Beyond the kitchen, a windowed garage door opens up to the back yard space, where you can lounge around or enjoy the hot tub (two thumbs up for that amenity). Rates at the Urban Cowboy generally range from $150 to $250 / night. If you want to go for the “Full Cowboy Experience”, you can rent the entire B&B out for $2000/night.
Shunning the typically stiff atmosphere of most traditional hotels, Lyon’s has done a great job of creating a unique, quality B&B experience unmatched anywhere in NYC. We can’t wait to check out his next endeavor, as he opens the second Urban Cowboy in Nashville later this year.
