In my former life, I was a news anchor and reporter but once I got married and moved from Tennessee to NYC, it was time for a career shift. Before Compass + Twine was born, I pursued another love of mine: flowers. I spent about 6 months interning at a popular floral shop on the Lower east Side and loved it. So, flash forward several years, when I heard a local florist here offered design classes, I was stoked.
In 2019, Brooke did a career shift too and followed her floral dreams. She started Bumble Fleur and aside for being the owner, she’s also the creative design lead, tackling weddings big and small, local deliveries, and leading floral design classes in her St. Paul studio. We are always looking for fun things to do and we are so glad Brooke reached out about her classes!
Whether you take a private class with friends or join a group class, you will learn so much from Brooke. Not only is she kind and funny, she knows so much about florals and design, focuses on sourcing locally when possible, aims to be a sustainable as possible, and believes in inclusivity. Flowers, as she says, are for everyone!
At our private class, she popped some bubbly for us to sip while she shared her background and went through basically floral design 101. Over snacks and sips, we learned how to create a sturdy base for our flowers, balance an arrangement, and care for our florals once we take them home. Take a virtual spin around a class here.
We got to laugh with our friends and family who came along and we all created beautiful arrangements! Brooke was such a great teacher and was so fun to spend the evening with. Her class at Bumble Fleur is something we’re already planning to do again!
