InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa

Tahiti

We flew from the US to Bora Bora and, with three flights and all the layovers, it took more than 24 hours to get there. On our way home we spent one night in Tahiti and found a stunning slice of paradise just five minutes from the airport at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa.

With gorgeous views of Moorea, crystal clear waters, hotel rooms and overwater bungalows, the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa is proof that you need not go any further into French Polynesia to find heaven on earth.

The sprawling property gives a bit of a retro vibe; the exterior of the hotel buildings are designed in an old school art deco style with the balcony railings providing a fun and functional decoration. The 246 hotel rooms are spacious – we stayed in a Moorea view classic king room- and noshing on the fresh fruit left in our room was a delightful way to exhale from the early morning flight.

Turns out, you don’t need to jet off to another smaller island to get an overwater bungalow. There are 36 newly renovated, thatched roof bungalows dotting the perimeter of the property, facing Moorea. They offer stunning views, and while we did not see one in person, the photos online look lovely.

With four on-site restaurants and bars, there are no shortage of dining options at the InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa. We had a wonderful meal at Le Lotus, an open-air restaurant in an overwater bungalow. It was a delicious dinner experience, where we enjoyed beautiful dishes from the Michelin Two-Star Chef Bruno Oger. To cap off the meal, the sky lit up in cotton candy colors as the sun sank beneath the horizon, which made the entire stay feel all the more magical.

Compass + Twine was a welcomed guest of the resort. As always, all opinions are our own.
