Bequia (pronounced Beck-way) was the first stop on our southern Caribbean cruise aboard Sea Cloud II. To be honest, until this trip, we hadn’t heard of it. We didn’t have long there, only a couple of hours, so…priorities.
We’d heard whispers on the ship that there was a kick-ass beach bar on Bequia, and as luck would have it, we were taken right to its dock.
Jack’s Bar is set in the most ideal location ever. Each seat faces the gorgeous ocean dotted with sailboats, and when you’re done eating and drinking, you’re just steps away from an afternoon nap on the golden-sands of famed Princess Margaret Beach. Lured in by the sound of laughter, clinking glasses, and the perfect beach-day music, we immediately feel in love.
Sipping ‘woo-woo’s’, the drink of the day, we sat for hours watching a group play cricket in the surf and the sailboat glide in and out of the harbor. A couple woo-woo’s later and we were singing along with the staff and other guests, and the brief, passing shower barely caught our eye.
We took a quick walk along the Princess Point Trail, which is essentially a wooden path built into the craggy cliffside, and then headed back to our ship. One day we’ll be back to sip a few more of those addictive little cocktails.
