Simple, fresh and tasty dumplings – that’s what Miss Mimi is all about. The small and jovial eatery in the East Village keeps the decor modest and the dumplings masterful. Only four types of dumplings are offered – including the monthly special – which speaks to their effort to keep it simple and do it right. They do it so right, in fact, that the sisters Hannah and Marian Cheng were just included in Zagat’s 30 under 30 list or New York City, meaning these two are, as Zagat put it, ‘rockstars who are changing the industry”. Wowza!
The Cheng sisters brought Mimi Cheng’s to life after they searched high and low across New York city for authentic Taiwanese-Chinese food. Eventually, they realized that nothing even came close to their mother’s age old recipe, cooking style and secret sauce. Focusing on quality of product, the girls created one of the best cute, casual, and delicious dumpling spots in all of New York.
To really take in the Mimi Cheng’s experience, grab some friends and sign up for one of their dumpling-making classes. On Mondays, the restaurant is completely closed down for the small and intimate 10 person class.
