The Upstate New York town of Narrowsburg is bursting with character, creativity, and newness right now. New shops, new pizzerias, and new coffee spots are popping up all along Main Street. Right around the corner, a wonderful new design hotel has recently opened as well.
The Nest Inn is the second passion project of former W and Vogue Design Director Anna Bern. She also owns the Nest Store, which has locations in Narrowsburg and Livingston Manor. A walk around her eclectic shop and you’ll understand why she had the urge to open an Inn.
With a killer eye for design and distinctive sense of style, Anna scours antique shops, vintage boutiques, and international markets for items to fill the shop and her inn. Inside, you’ll find everything from antique sofas and brightly colored hand knit rugs to dip-dyed tunics. Sourcing from places like Brazil, Guatamala and Ethiopia, each piece has a story. Often times, she tells us, she buys two of everything so opening the Inn was a natural progression.
Right now, the Inn consists of 3 rooms, gorgeously renovated in an 1850’s farmhouse. Each room has it’s own personality. Unique bedding and décor, along with different colors and textures, give each room a completely different feel.
Opt for the romantic upstairs room and you’ll have a gorgeous soaking tub. Down the hall, the room has a cool retro-vintage vibe, with 70’s-style chairs and fun mixes of colors and patterns.
On the main floor, the room mixes feminine touches, like a fluffy rug and a sleek white, pom-pom accented quilt, with more stark characteristics, like a hanging skull and a black accent wall.
Outside, you can choose from several seats in the garden, perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or vino come twilight.
The Nest Inn is the perfect compliment to the Next Store, two of our favorite places Upstate.
