Beacon is one of the most beloved towns in the Hudson Valley because of its artistic flare and old industrial charm. Also, it’s close! An hour drive North of the city or an easy Metro North ride up, it’s one of the most accessible towns in Upstate New York. Beacon has a great main street full of boutique shops, cafes, and antique stores. Nearby the town, you’ll find some amazing and scenic hiking trails. Most notable to the town is Dia:Beacon, the modern art museum which attracts thousands of visitors each year for it’s impressive contemporary collection (Warhol, anyone?).
With a mesmerizing location overlooking Beacon Falls, The Roundhouse is the place to stay. The hotel fuses a contemporary vibe with the same historical character that the town has so beautifully maintained. Mid-week, rooms can be snagged for around $150; the rates go up for weekends during the summer high season. The hotel restaurant has a spectacular vantage point over the falls, but our favorite meal was a block away at a delicious gastro pub called The Hop.
