It’s 8:30 on a Saturday night and there’s a line of people wrapped around the block. What is going on World? Is Taylor Swift putting on an impromptu performance? Is David Beckham signing autographs shirtless? Did we miss some big restaurant grand opening? Upon further inspection we realize these folks are our people. They’re waiting in line for ice cream. I mean, we’ve been known to eat a cone or two in our day, but waiting for half an hour on a Saturday night? We had to know why.
The people were right. Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream is the truth and our new favorite spot for ice cream. Starting with a simple ice cream cart, Morgenstern’s developed such a following that a brick a mortar store was necessary. The Lower East Side shop feels – and looks- like an old school ice cream parlor, but the flavors are anything but dated. Bourbon vanilla, American egg, Szechuan peppecorn chocolate, Black ass licorice…what?! The list goes on and the flavors get even more inticing. We loved the raw milk and mint chip together and can’t wait to spend another evening, waiting in line, for no other reason than dessert.
