As a well-known chain, Nobu may seem like an obvious recommendation, but we’ve been hard-pressed to find better quality fish outside Tokyo. Don’t get us wrong, there are plenty of fantastic sushi joints in New York, but Nobu does it so well, so consistently, that we just keep coming back for more. There is one location in Midtown (Nobu 57), but Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s flagship location is down in TriBeCa. One of our favorite aspects of sushi restaurants is eating at the sushi bar and at Nobu, you can almost always walk right in and do just that. Get a combination of hot dishes, cold dishes and sushi. The Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeño is a long-time favorite, the Creamy Spicy Crab is mouth-watering, and the Black Cod Miso is out of this world. Sushi lovers will appreciate the high quality cuts of fish, especially the Toro. In exciting news, Nobu recently added its own version of a ramen to the menu. It’s served with wagyu beef that practically melts in your mouth – like buttah.
