At the end of a busy street in downtown Zihuatanejo, you’ll find the best mezcal bar in town – Angustina Mezcal & Cocina. Opened in 2014 , the space boasts vibrant, neon seating areas, a huge, colorful mural on the back wall, and some funny, mezcal-inspired sayings painted all around. Traditional children’s toys playfully hang from above, while and a trio of wooden coffins stocked with mezcal adorn the back wall. From the food and drinks to the nightlife, the folks at Angustina focus on creating an atmosphere that embodies where they are located – the Mexican state of Guerrero. Many nights, you’ll find live music with the dancing spilling into the streets. On the weekends, extra tables are added to accommodate the constant flow of both locals and tourists, looking for a night of mezcal-fueled fun and delicious local cuisine. They produce their own mezcal and serve the smoky liquor straight or infused in a variety of our-of-this-world cocktails. The food is amazing – so fresh and well-curated, and every dish can be paired perfectly with your cocktail of choice. Angustina took a piece of heart and we know you’ll love it too.
