Café Altro Paradiso

SoHo

A new hotspot opens around NYC just about every week it seems. Usually we don’t feel the need to immediately check them out based on hype alone. However, when we heard the buzz about Café Altro Paradiso, we took the first reservation we could get (which was a 5:30pm on a Tuesday whaaaat!?). The team from Estella, one of our favorite restaurants in the city, has once again created a gem this time, in SoHo.

The spacious eatery is flooded with natural light and adorned with minimal, natural decor. A narrow window lets guests peer into the belly of the beast and watch the chefs hard at work in the kitchen.  The menu is separated into three categories-  starters, pastas, and mains- with plenty of options to choose from. Luckily, the portions are a reasonable enough size that you can easily try several a few things. When we dined there recently, the two of us shared three starters, each for a half portion of pasta, and shared a an entree. We finished dinner pleasantly full, but not feeling grossly stuffed. The Italian restaurant is currently serving the same menu all day but they plan to start adding daily specials and a separate lunch menu in the future.
