Casual and cool, we love lunch at Café Gitane in Nolita. They were doing avocado toast before avocado toast was even a thing. This cash only spot is the perfect place to pop in if you’re downtown and looking for a bite to eat for lunch or a refreshing drink. It’s not over the top or any sort of grand epicurean production, but that’s just what we like about it. It’s light and tasty and affords some pretty excellent people-watching too. Nolita tends to be a less trafficked area than Soho, but still has an equally cool and abundant array of boutique shopping.

There’s another Café Gitane location in the Jane Hotel in the West Village. Both spots are ideal for lunch.
