Egg Shop is probably the most photogenic eatery we’ve come across since Jack’s Wife Freda. The cute façade beckons otherwise distracted passerby’s to stop what they’re doing and come in, even if they aren’t that hungry. On weekends, the line to grab a seat in the sunny little Nolita café can sometimes wrap around the block so nabbing a spot off-brunch hours or during the week is key.
Egg Shop doles out some crazy creative egg options. ‘The Beast’, for instance, is a French hero stuffed with pulled pork carnitas, a sunny side up egg, cilantro, pickled red onion, and chipotle bourbon ketchup. Yep, say it with me: flavor explosion. While they do cover the basics like the ever-trendy avocado toast topped with an egg, their list of cruisers (‘it’s in a bowl!’) and inventive sandwiches have conjured up quite the following over time and caused us to add it to our best brunch spots in the City.
And finally, an answer to the age-old question: which came first, the chicken or the egg? The egg. At Egg Shop, the chicken is a mere afterthought…or should we say side dish.
