Tucked away at the back of a nondescript Lower East Side alley, Freeman’s Restaurant is anything but ordinary. Once you find the street, hanging lights at the end of the alley beckon you to the cozy eatery. Freeman’s serves deliciously comforting rustic American cuisine. The restaurant has multiple dining areas, two private rooms, and a bar in both the front and back. Dark wood paneling, multiple fireplaces and hunting decor give the space a warm and cozy cabin-like ambiance.
Freeman’s is adored for both brunch and dinner. We prefer the restaurant in the winter time, and usually can find a seat at one of the bar tops if you’re without advance reservations. We like comforting options such as the artichoke dip, pork belly hush puppies, chicken breast confit, and smoked bison short rib that keep us coming back year after year.
