If you’re looking for an unforgettable seafood dinner, look no further than Marea. The upscale Italian restaurant on Central Park South is incredible.
Chef Michael White created a menu that pairs perfectly with the chic atmosphere and dynamic wine list. Any given night, you’ll most likely be noshing next to some of New York’s most elite and recognizable. But no matter which famous face you spot, the food at Marea is the real star. The seafood is simply prepared, letting the real flavors of the ocean come through. There are some great crudo dishes on the menu, dressed lightly with flavors of fennel and dill. The pastas, like the Fusili, might impress you the most. The twisty little pasta is coated in the most decadent red sauce and tossed with red wine, braised octopus, and bone marrow. You may be apprehensive about some of those ingredients at first, but the dish, all put together, is magnificent. Other favorites include the savory butter-poached halibut (Ippoglosso) and tender grilled octopus (Polipo).
Marea is the prefect place to visit for a special night out, be it a celebration or just a fancy pre-theater date night. The tasting menu is superb and allows you to sample the best of White’s creations paired with well-selected wines and champagnes. There’s a good chance Marea will end up being one of your more memorable meals in New York City.
