If you’re not careful, you’ll walk right by this cozy, dark Nolita restaurant. But if you’re lucky enough to get a reservation, you’ll be sure to never pass by it again without stopping in. Peasant isn’t your typical red-sauce Italian restaurant and you’ll be glad. They’ve got a great menu full of pastas, pizzas, and proteins, all prepared in a rustic Italian fashion. If you’re seated near the back, you can peek into the open kitchen and see the old brick wood-fire ovens and rotisserie, which will likely have suckling pigs roasting away. The burrata is always amazing, the gnocchi in a brown butter and sage sauce is a must-order, and when it comes to the main dish meat options, it is seriously hard to choose. They are what keeps us coming back. This is one best meals to indulge in during the depths of winter when you crave something savory and hearty.
