When you look up the word brunch in the dictionary, Prune should be the definition. And if you look it up on our “Best Brunch Spots” list, it’s pretty close to the top. Here’s why.

When choosing a brunch spot, several things must be considered: food quality, vibe, and hair-of-the-dog drink selection. The vibe at Prune is rad with music setting a fun, upbeat tone. The servers are happy, approachable and nice (shocking!). Everyone working there has they’re own style and character, some are covered in tattoos while others rock the vintage pin-up-girl look. On a nice day, the floor-to-ceiling doors are flung open in a very French brasserie type of way.

Described as “new American”, all the dishes that Chef Gabrielle Hamilton serves up are awesome. The brunch menu includes plates like a Monte Cristo, Spaghetti carbonara, Eggs Benedict, and Dutch-style Pancakes. They serve steak and eggs, sausage and oysters, and something called ‘Lower East Side Appetizing”, which involves several types of smoked fish and assorted breads. Finally, and most importantly when considering brunch, Prune has a whole menu dedicated to the quintessential brunch cocktail. They have found 11 different ways to make a Bloody Mary, all served with a beer back (aka shot of beer) to ‘cleanse the palate’. Prune is also great for lunch and dinner too, but as far as we’re concerned their jam is brunch. We dig it.
