There’s no such thing as free lunch but there IS such a think as a free cruise along the Hudson River. North River Lobster Co is a floating lobster shack that docks off Pier 81. Several times a day, they depart for a 45 minute spin up the Hudson. The views of the city skyline are brilliant. You can see the Empire State Building, the George Washington Bridge, and all of Riverside Parkway.
The lobster shack onboard is delicious. The boat/restaurant has an extensive raw bar, a full seafood menu, and a few options not from the ocean. There’s no charge to board the boat, so just walk on and walk up to the counter. Pick a seat outside and your food will be brought over shortly. We loved the 90’s playlist which seemed to pair perfectly with the lobster roll and North River Blonde Ale. They don’t take reservations, but there’s plenty of room on the boat and they leave multiple times a day so the wait is never long. And, if you don’t have your sea legs, you can eat on the floating dock and grab a cocktail at the bar on nice, sturdy dry land.
